Synyster Gates names two young artists that remind him of Avenged Sevenfold

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold was asked which contemporary young artists remind him of his band. His response included two music recommendations that reflect his inspiration.

Speaking of one artist, Gates noted, “Kim Dracula, they’re fearless. Their ability to just be themselves and their confidence — it’s mind-blowing. I’m sure you’re going to see a really unique career there.” This artist, known for mixing metal with alternative, trap, and indie genres, even inspired Gates to start writing music again after completing “Life Is But a Dream…”, Avenged Sevenfold’s latest album released in June.

Additionally, Gates highlighted an experimental hyper-pop duo from St. Louis, saying, “A personal favorite of mine is 100 gecs. Jesus, they’ve just turned music upside down.” He credited this duo with re-energizing him musically, leading him to propose to M.Shadows, “Hey, Matt, wanna go write some crazy shit?”

Despite this newfound inspiration, Gates clarified, “We’re not planning anything new, but it gets you excited.”
