Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates revealed in a new interview with Power Hour at the Sonic Tempre Festival what was the moment he realized he wanted to pursue a career in music.

Gates said: “It was when I was 6 or 7 years old and I heard Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog’ in a KLOS commercial and I asked my father to teach me the guitar riff over and over again”.

He continued: “And then Guns N’ Roses, seeing the ‘November Rain’ video, I was like, That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen,” Gates added. “So those two things, I think musically and then that visual, didn’t make me want to go out and write music, but it definitely solidified that I was going to do something in the music industry, specifically guitar.”
